Situation

La Farge North America is the largest diversified supplier of construction materials in the United States and Canada, providing products used in residential, commercial, and public works construction projects across North America. After completing a major reorganization in the United States and Canada, the company centralized operations, which resulted in plant closures, divestitures, and job loss for many employees.

Workforce Solution

Right Management partnered with La Farge to provide exiting employees with a full suite of outplacement services. Right Management partnered with La Farge’s HR team on the logistics and planning to tailor a program that provided a combination of both traditional and virtual outplacement services which included: one-on-one onsite meeting support for employees on the day of notification.. Programs varied from 3-12 months duration for salaried and professional staff members depending on tenure and position, and all other employees were offered one-day workshops. 

Results

According to La Farge, 99% of employees felt the assistance provided by Right Management was helpful emotionally and gave them the tools and confidence to be successful in landing new career opportunities. They particularly valued the dedicated coaches who could talk with employees about career planning in a one-on-one individualized way, and the ability to meet virtually with employees in remote locations.
